Building the Toothy the Brushbot

Building the Toothy the Brushbot

St. Raymond Elementary is a Parish school of St. Raymond Catholic Church in Menlo Park, CA. The Mechatronics program at St. Raymond is based on Catholic values. Students learn why we build machines and who we build machines for at the same time we learn how to code, wire microcontrollers and fabricate with digital design and prototype tools.

We focus on graduating students into high school with the "Option C" mentality. That is, if machine A or machine B does not serve the present need than we want our students to default to "oh, right - machine C should exist, so I will just build it"

The Mechatronics program serves grades 1st - 8th with extended hours for 5th - 8th grade students to work on their own personal projects. The school is moving to build out a Maker Space that will be open to families to work on projects together. We are happy to share the lessons we are learning as we build this program out over the next few years. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Thank you,
Kenneth Hawthorn,
Mechatronics Teacher
